ABOUT THE SOCIETY
Because the world really needed another blog dedicated to the Portland Trail Blazers. We're a group of journalists and fans who've grown up with--or have grown to love--Oregon's only professional franchise (and this won't change when MLS comes to town). Plus we're convinced that--if given the chance--we could totally hit the Toyota halfcourt shot. Until then, we're stuck here in the Portland Roundball Society.

Pick and Scroll: Possibilities Edition

Your daily (Mon-Fri) roundup of links from around the blogosphere, typically Trail Blazers related.

• Love LeBron (Miami fans, go ahead and raise your suntanned hand), or hate LeBron (Cleveland, New York, New Jersey, Chicago, and for some reason, Minnesota… go ahead, raise your hands), can we all agree that the basketball world is completely saturated with James-to-Miami news? If you must read more about it, well, Sean Meagher of The Oregonian has got you covered. I would recommend reading a very balanced take from the Blogfather himself, Henry Abbott, who implores the incensed fans to name LeBron James’ crimes. Also, there seems to be some harmony among most APBRmetrics (that’s advanced statistics for you non-geeks) as to the projections for the great south beach triumvirate. Dave Berri even sneaks in some 90’s Blazer love when discussing great NBA trios. Of course, if Berri were to project everyone to be healthy, it would not surprise me to see his metric churn out Greg Oden, Marcus Camby, and Joel Przybilla as the highest impact trio in the NBA.

• There is talk that Donnie Walsh will step down as Knicks GM and Pritchard could be a candidate to replace him. However, it’s Peter Vecsey doing the talking, so take that with a shaker of salt.

• Over at the TrueHoop Motherblog, Kevin Arnovitz has created a great shorthand list breaking down what to look for from each summer league team.

• Along those lines, SJ from Rip City Project tells us what he wants to see specifically out of the five players with real ties to the Blazers.

• Tom Haberstroh of TrueHoop Network sister site Hardwood Paroxysm demonstrates the strength of the sellers market in NBA free agency right now. Right now, NBA teams are like a bunch of 21 year old kids in a strip club. They saved up money for this big night and by god they are going to spend it, even if the dancer looks suspiciously like Drew Gooden.

• Now, what I think will be interesting is whether or not all this free agency business will spark an arms race. Maybe the Magic make a desperation trade for Andre Iguadala, or maybe the Nuggets sign Kwame Brown. Who knows? We NBA fans could be in for a busy trade season.

im just glad im not a NY Knicks fan, they got freaking burned worse than anyone, well with the exception of the Nets I suppose, but at least the Nets haven't spent substantial money yet.

Donnie Walsh blew it big time, thats what happens when you blow two seasons waiting on a dream....idiots!!

Sean Meagher writes for OregonLive.com not the Oregonian. Slight difference, but he is still an excellent journalist, so continue to link him up.

Notice that the Chinese know how to do a stimulus package, while no one in power seems to know how to do a stimulus package here in the US.
