ABOUT THE SOCIETY
Because the world really needed another blog dedicated to the Portland Trail Blazers. We're a group of journalists and fans who've grown up with--or have grown to love--Oregon's only professional franchise (and this won't change when MLS comes to town). Plus we're convinced that--if given the chance--we could totally hit the Toyota halfcourt shot. Until then, we're stuck here in the Portland Roundball Society.

Pick and Scroll: Unsolicited Advice to Millionaires Edition

Your daily (Mon-Fri) roundup of links from around the blogosphere, typically Trail Blazers related.

• Just what exactly is LeBron James thinking right now? Holy Taco weighs in (PG13)

• Dave Deckard discusses whether the Pritchard firing will be a “watershed moment” in Blazer history. My take? Probably not, unless the next general manager screws up in colossal fashion. There is really not a lot that a general manager can do that would impact the franchise as much as Greg Oden staying healthy.

• Coup from Rip City Project writes a touching tribute to Martell Webster, the player and the person.

• Mike Barrett thinks that maybe it’s better to sit this free agency period out for now. As I have said before, I agree. Portland’s strength right now is on the trade market, there are no bargains to be had at the moment, so just wait until the money dries up.

• Over at Pro Basketball Talk, Rob Mahoney opines on the bulletproof logic of Luke Ridnour meeting with the Timberwolves.

• Wendell Maxey has a great piece on what Jeff Pendergraph is doing with his “offseason.”

• Over at Bust a Bucket, a challenger arises to the Pick and Scroll… nope, wait, that’s an entree. Love the “Hat Man” t-shirt.

• Kevin Pelton takes a look at this year’s free agent shooting guards. It’s a happier story than the point guard crop.

• LeBron James is apparently going to have a one hour primetime special on ESPN, Thursday night at 9pm EST. to announce where he will be playing basketball. I’m not sure who is advising LeBron on some of these publicity stunts (such as the aborted multi-city free agency tour), but King James needs to reach outside his current circle and get some honest feedback. LeBron James wants to be adored? Fine. He should endeavor to be an incredible basketball player and a generous and kind person off the court and he will be loved by the masses and cherished by those near to him. No one garners adoration from attention seeking stunts. Ham-fisted maneuvers like this will only seek to alienate the very audience whose adoration James seeks. My advice is to be humble, be gracious, be an every-man, let others point out your extraordinary qualities, just be yourself and the spotlight and adoration will gravitate to you. And don’t go to the Knicks.

BlazerDancers open auditions are on the 10th and 11th of this month. We’re going to make it this year: Goodbye press row, hello dance floor!

Engineers are a special breed who think with a differnent line of logic than most "normal" people. Since I am one, hollister online I kind of have strong opinions that engineers shouldn't manage much unless they ahve actual extroverted personalities. hollisteruk.net/" title="hollister online">hollister online think people must first research before writing.
